Counselling

Life can be challenging at times, full of ups and downs, and sometimes talking to someone can really help untangle a situation, issue or feeling.

Today, talking therapies such as counselling are used to help people come to terms with any problems they are facing, and set about working through them to build resilience and eventually get to a better place.

Fly Free Psychotherapy provides affordable and high quality counselling, face to face in Spain, La Linea, and online to anyone who can convert in English.

What Is Counselling?

Counselling can mean different things to different people, but in general it is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.

It should always be done in a safe and confidential environment with a qualified counsellor who has experience working with whatever issue or feeling you’re experiencing.

A counsellor is not there to tell you what to do, but to encourage you to talk about what you’re experiencing in order to uncover any root causes and identify any unhelpful or unhealthy ways of thinking.

Counselling does not come in a one size fits all format and each session is generally tailored to the individual.

Counselling is different from Psychotherapy see our FAQ page for more INFO.

“The task of each person is to find out what is blocking a life situation.”
-Fritz Perls-

When Can Counselling help?

Counselling doesn’t have to be a ‘once off’, but can be turned to whenever you need support with a particular problem or feeling.

For example, bereavement counselling can be a very positive support if we lose someone close to us.

Perhaps we will need to turn to an addiction counsellor if we are struggling with an unhealthy relationship with drugs, alcohol, sex or food.

Maybe we will go to couples’ counselling if we are experiencing some troubling issues in our relationship such as a communication breakdown, jealousy or insecurity, trust issues or general life challenges.

We may be in need of extra support and guidance if we have experienced a traumatic event in life that we’re struggling to process.

We might be feeling very anxious in work or experiencing insomnia or chronic stress because of a life event. Counselling can help us get to grips with this, discover the origin of these feelings and work through it.

There are also different types of counselling formats such as;

Face-to-face: Face to face counselling is when you have an in-person session at a physical location.

Couples or group: You may choose to see a counsellor by yourself, or if you prefer you could join a counselling group with people experiencing similar issues. You may also want to see a counsellor with your partner, family member or members.

Online counselling: Fly Free Psychotherapy provides online counselling and psychotherapy to our clients via a confidential and user friendly platform. Online counselling can be very helpful for those who cannot travel to a physical location, or are experiencing mobility difficulties or social anxiety or agoraphobia.
